Christmas 2008 was a sign: "no longer create new pages! but add new creations to existing pages! Avi interviews Elihav:

after he, Elihav, had prepared some dishes, which reminded him of his mother,
for instance the dish which came out of the assignment of "exchanging Imma".
Roshfeld, the judge, describes Elihav as presenting a meeting between ethnic, Moroccan kitchen
with international and modern cooking.
His mother Na'omi tells, how it came to be, that Elihav has this business of bride-dresses:
"I want to make people happy",
and he himself tells, that he takes part in the happiest day of a woman's life
by creating for her, what people deem most important: the dress of the bride.
This is also what Eyal says
"Elihav chose as his task to take a woman and create for her what she has dreamt about all her life."
[Rachel's comment: This was, indeed, one of the ongoing fantasies of my early youth: seeing myself in the dress of a bride...]
Eyal completes:
"And that is how he cooks - it's all beauty".
As he said once: "I learnt through you, Elihav, that beauty is a quality.!"

Immanuel: "He makes me fly with his ideas, with his imagination, with his crazy creativity!"
Elihav: "If a fashion-house meets an aeroplane, it must be interesting."
Roshfeld, when seeing their two dishes: "Guys, it seems that you were meant to be together."
Immanuel: "It's as if he pulled me out of the cockpit and threw me out without a parashute, and now - either I fall or I learn to fly"
Elihav: "even me Immanuel managed to pull out of the box!"
Chaim: "And I know, that Elihav took you by the hand into this world and you gave him the ground to stand on."
Avi and Elihav laugh about how fat Elihav was as a child,
"with both pockets full of ma'amulim" [Arab cookies]
and explains, that food was what comforted him in his childhood..
Avi, of course, knows this reason for becoming drugged..
[Rachel's comment: I know well the craving for food, though I could never connect it to the sufferings of my childhood.
Though food was rare and bad, especially during and after the War, I was fat, not like Elihav describes himself,
but compared to all the thin kids of that time, obese enough to make my mother "sing" a mocking song to me.
I'm still craving for food
(except when it's as bad as in the Neve-Ilan hotel, where the finalists with their families met for the Eve of Shabbat, a day before the Finale)
and I still feel fat, - but it now seems to me, that I conditioned myself like that for this life,
so I can identify with people in a world, where obesity has become "the worst epidemy",
in order to feel solidarity with all the humans who have such a hard time to love themselves because of "overweight"]
Avi: "what dish that you made in the program, you cherish most?"
"The one I cooked in the pit of the earth.
If before that I emphasized the visual aspect, and only then the aspect of taste,
I turned around and since then think first of the taste."
A clip of that program is shown, where Elihav understands: "Go down into the pit"..
Michal: "And suddenly the soul of his Moroccan grandmother entered him and he let go of structures and towers."
Elihav: "I'll also make Freineh, Moroccan bread, and I'll feel like a Moroccan woman, who immigrated to Israel an hour ago."
Chaim: "Let not the form limit you".
[Rachel's comment: "This is a sentence, I, too, have to take to heart, also with regard to sculpting on these pages,
though it's exactly the form - its limits, its boundaries, that propel my inspiration and creativity !]

"I was young, I myself was 24 years old, the understanding that there was new life, it comes from me and it's dependent on me. A kind of responsibility I felt nowhere else." |

may be a good time to quote Elah's reaction to the petition on the Internet: to remove pilot Rosenzweig, grandson of a Nazi soldier, from "Masterchef", and to sabotage the program, till his removal would be accomplished (posted on Sept. 2, 2011: |

Immanuel was very moved by his daughter's response and expresses his pride
By
contrast to that petition I'll quote Immanuel's short letter to me, after the Masterchef team had traveled to an army-basis in the north and cooked for 50 soldiers who had "to stay Shabbat" on Sept. 15, 2011. I had written to him at 20:40 and asked, if he was finally back home, together with sending him the great photo of Elihav and Mika. I also told him, that I was a bit disappointed about what was shown on Channel 23 on this day, but that there were two symbolic events: One: it was intended, that the cooking of a soldier-mother should compete with the cooking of the team, but they soon cooked all of them together. Second: it was said in the program that the atmosphere within the team and the mutual help were marvellous. Immanuel wrote back and later told me face to face, what great fun both, cooks and soldiers, had together. "We entered the kitchen at 8 AM, without any instructions except for the laws of kosherness, no assembly, no planning, no division of tasks - we simply started cooking , and at 9:30 the food was ready, though dinner was planned for 12 o'clock" |

In the morning of Friday, September 23, 2011
- Mika reads to us from her first grade schoolbook:
In the evening of that day, the Eve of Shabbat, the
three finalists and their families met at the hotel of Neve-Ilan,
Neve-Ilan is the village, where the studios of "Masterchef" have
become like a second home for the participants,
since Avi's and Elihav's families keep Shabbat and wouldn't be able to reach
the studio at the right time for the Finale,
they decided to stay at that very kosher hotel (with a hard-to-bear flood
of visitors and abundant but horrid food).

but then I caught Mika, whom I had called over to see Oree, looking at the baby of Avi and Ilanit...
Ilanit in the beginning sat next to me and allowed me for a short time to give her attention and intention.
